I'm not sure about finding the browsemaster in a domain. I think if you
run smbd and nmbd as daemons rather than from inetd, you eventually
accumulate many of the names (in your own workgroup)...
One popular interface is smb2www, though I haven't used it much, and
I'm having some trouble with the underlying perl scripts misbehaving.
