All:

Thanks for the post about Eric Raymond's talk, Don. Actually, I'm sorry
for any confusion, but as of today, it looks like we are going to move the
talk to 7:00 PM on the same day, Thursday the 25th. I hope it will be in
the same room; that is still to be determined.

Anyway, this is a talk YOU don't want to miss. Raymond is a longtime
advocate of and speaker on Open Source software. He wrote "The Cathedral
and the Bazaar" (http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/writings), the document that
Netscape credits as inspiring its decision to release its browser to open
source. He is also the person to whom Microsoft's "Halloween Documents,"
internal memos about the threat of Linux and Open Source, were leaked. You
can read those, with Raymond's comments, at http://www.opensource.org.
He is also the editor of "The New Hacker's Dictionary," and
wrote/maintains fetchmail, the email program Matt Hiller mentioned in his
last post. The talk is sponsored by linux-list and the Yale CS department.

So, what I need from you guys is volunteers who would like to help me
promote the talk. I need people to spread the word, put up posters, and
generally spread the idea that there's an alternative to Microsoft out
there, and that you can find out about it at the talk, on Thursday,
February 25 at 7:00 PM.

This is a unique and powerful opportunity for Linux users and fans at
Yale.

So let me know if you'd like to help out.
