One possible reason for font jaggy-ness is that you're using postscript
fonts that are not great at scaling. If you get xfstt, the true-type font
server, you'll be able to use TTF fonts in addition to all your other
fonts. linuxgazette has an article on it (search for xfstt). I have it
setup so that I use the TTF fonts on my (ever shrinking) Win98 partition.
