More questions on hosts.allow, X-windows

Thanks to everyone who responded to my previous questions. I'm now happy
at my lower resolution settings and smaller desktop. However,
/etc/hosts.allow still doesn't work. I checked /etc/inetd.conf, which
lists the services managed by /usr/sbin/tcpd. That "names" the services,
while specifying the actual program which runs. For instance, a line from
it is:

telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.telnetd

Intuitively, it seems like in hosts.allow, I'd want to use the name
'telnet' for the in.telnetd service, because inetd knows about it, ie,
in hosts.allow,

telnet: LOCAL, .yale.edu

But this doesn't work, nor does saying 'in.telnetd: LOCAL, .yale.edu'. Any
suggestions?

Also, unrelated: anyone know how to get fonts working in X-windows? I'm
sure there's a HOWTO on it somewhere, but I didn't see one on the Linux
Documentation Project web site. Right now I have a bunch of fonts
available in the Gimp, but they don't scale properly. Also, MSOffice apps
don't work under WINE (that's a whole other story, I'm sure there's
problems there), and I think it might be because necessary fonts aren't
there...

Thanks,

It is conceivable that one day, computers will be better than humans at
nearly everything. I can imagine that a person might someday have a
computer for a best friend. That will be sad--like having a dog for your
best friend but even sadder.
