about a year ago, i noticed that, when my internet connection was down,
netscape communicator would lock as soon as i started it. specifically, the
navigator window would appear, but as soon as the copyright logos left the
window (either from clicking on netscape or from the copyright message
timing out), it would lock and had to be 'kill -9' terminated.
today, i found that i could fix this problem by editing
~/.netscape/preferences.js and changing the news directory to something that
doesn't exist, like this:
user_pref("news.directory", "/home/invalid/");
anyone know what's going on here? is there something in my home directory
that's confusing netscape messenger? is there a better way to fix this
problem?
