So, I'm learning the ways of building things. I'm trying to get XEmacs to
build, and it does, but it doesn't recognize the png and xpm libraries
(It still builds, but runs weird graphically). For both, it gives that the
header files and libraries are of different versions, and that it isn't
touching that with a 10-foot pole (forcing it to include them just makes
compilation fail). The weird thing is that I downloaded the latest
versions (1.05 for png, 3.4k for xpm), and did their installation
procedures and they worked fine (apparently copying both the lib and .h
files). The xpm is in a binary, so I assumed it just wanted me to copy the
files into their various /usr directories, but that involved copying the
/usr/lib files and an .h file into /usr/include/X11. So I have no
understanding of why this is coming up and throw myself upon your mercy.
