Basic question from a basic linux user.
Okay, so I've never liked Netscape Navigator. I've always thought it to be
rather wonky, and slow compared to Internet Explorer.
Now, on my newly-converted linux box, it's taking it's revenge.
So, it's generally a bit slower, font support is a bit weird, etc, etc,
etc. All minor quibbles, but here's the big one. The thing unbearably
locks when webpages don't do what it likes. I had a few windows open,
clicked on a link that had given me trouble earlier in the day, and no
screen refreshes, the cursor started moving down to very low framerates,
and now, all of my netscape windows are currently not displaying a damn
thing. No matter how many times I click on the close window, nothing
happens. All of the times this has happened, it's been in relation to
troublesome web links, i.e. Netscape doesn't seem to like trying to
connect to websites that don't connect back.
This has happened multiple times, all of the times when I've gotten
multiple windows up and running.
So two questions:
1) Is there something wrong with my computer per se, or is this just
Netscape being extra wonky? (info: corel distribution, untouched)
2) If the answer is regrettably no, then what other browsers are there out
there for Linux that are recommended? I can deal with less glitzy stuff,
with increased speed.
