Hello,
I've got a Mellon Forum presentation on my senior project coming
up the Wednesday after spring break -- it's an open-source project; I'll
send out a formal invitation to the Mellon talk later.* :)
Anyway, I'm planning using a powerpoint-like program called
MagicPoint (www.Mew.org/mgp/) to do part of the presentation. And I'll
need a computer running Linux or a BSD hooked up to a computer projector
to accomplish this. I can borrow a projector from a/v services, but the
computer presents something of a problem. Though I could lug my P133
desktop down to the Saybrook Lyceum room, it'd be most convenient if I
could borrow a laptop with Linux or BSD on it instead. (Alternately, if
you have a laptop that's intended for use as a Linux or a BSD box but you
haven't yet installed, if you loan me said machine I'd be more than happy
to scratch your back in return and do the installation for you.)
Anyway, I'd need it some weekday before break so that I can bring
it down to the a/v lab to create an XF86Config that'll work with the
projectors that they have, and then I'd need it again the day of the
presentation on March 22. And yes, I would need your root password to
accomplish this, but I wouldn't think that this is much of an additional
level of trust above loaning me the hardware to begin with. :)
Let me know if you can help out, and thanks.
Matt
