Hello,
Given that I interviewed with two Linux/free software companies, I
figured this'd be worth passing along:
For the past three days I've been in California doing interviews.
Penguin Computing, Oracle, and Cygnus, in that order. (The second was
thrown in because I want a job developing free software or deploying it in
interesting ways, but I didn't want to go into the process dead-sure I'd
be able to get such a job. And the fact that Oracle paid my way certainly
didn't hurt either. :) )
The interviews went pretty well, for the most part. (So much so
that I can already say that it's unlikely that I'll choose Oracle, given
my rationale for interviewing there to begin with.)
Anyway, if any of you have questions about my impressions of the
companies, and, specifically, what jobs the folks at Penguin and Cygnus
are looking to fill, send me a personal e-mail and I'll be more than happy
to answer your questions.
And naturally, when my job search comes to an end I'll let you
know where I land, so that you know where to buy your next computer/where
to buy your next support contract/who's a good contact person at the
company in question/etc.
Take care,
Matt
