I have recently connected a HP deskjet to a Linux box (RH 6.0),
usng it as a print server at home. I have two problems.
First, when I tried to print from another Linux box (Mackintosh,
MkLinux R6), the job got stuck in the queue. When I checked with
"lpq", I saw the message: "Warning: unable to get official name for
local machine horus.cis.yale.edu waiting for lp to become ready
(offline ?)" However, when I was on minerva, I can print on my
home printer without problem. What did I do wrong? BTW, in case
that it may be relevant, that Mackintosh is set up to be the default
gateway since I use it to dial up to Yale.
Second, I am using netatalk so that my wife can print from her
powerbook. The powerbook uses MacOS 8.5 and when we printed, we keep
getting error messages related to invalid font (on the printouts)
Printings (e.g. drawings from Canvas) with no text come out without
problem. Moreover, on a machine running MacOS 7.5, everything works f
ine. I checked on the Archive of the netatalk mailing list, some
other people report similar thing. Is it a well-known bug? Any
common work around or solution?
Thanks in advance!! :) :)
