Kicking Off PRIDE 2008 at Yale University

On Friday, April 4, 2008, B. Scott of LoveBScott.com will kick off PRIDE Month at Yale University with a Love Muffin Master's Tea sponsored by Silliman College, a PRIDE Meet-and-Greet at Geronimo Restaurant & a LoveBScott After-Party at Center Street Lounge. B’s Master’s Tea will focus on the launch of his career as both an openly gay commentator and an up-and-coming celebrity of color. He will also touch upon the implications of the blog, YouTube and other forms of electronic dissemination that have been central to his trajectory. The Master’s Tea will take place in Silliman College at four o’clock on Friday afternoon and will be followed by the evening’s festivities. Any questions regarding B. B. Scott is an openly gay, American blogger, celebrity commentator and internet personality. His blog lovebscott.com features a built-in daily video component in addition to entertainment and celebrity news. B was born in Franklin, Virginia and was raised outside of Ahoskie, North Carolina to parents of Irish, African-American, Jewish and Meherrin Indian ancestry. He now resides in Los Angeles, California.

Before Career in Entertainment

After graduating from the University Of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 with a B.A. in Psychology, B moved to Washington, DC where he briefly practiced as a licensed realtor providing the interior design for multiple revitalization projects in the Capitol Hill area. In June of 2005, B moved to Los Angeles, California where he obtained a state certified Real Estate license to continue his career as a realtor and interior designer but spent most of his time fleshing out interests in the entertainment industry. Before moving into his current occupation, B also briefly worked in print as a fashion model.

On January 7, 2007, B. Scott launched his website under the name “coupdetats.com”. Unlike other websites at the time, the mission of lovebscott.com was to approach entertainment and celebrity news with a positive spin. B’s philosophy is centered on providing pop culture commentary that is honest, witty, and fun but never spiteful or hateful. After a month of running coupdetats.com, B officially changed the name of the website to lovebscott.com in an effort to give his website a readily identifiable personality with the mission of conveying a positive outlook.

In May of 2007, B began incorporating YouTube videos into his website to personally connect with his readers. Ranging from musical performance to political commentary, the videos are unique in content and are produced out of B’s Los Angeles residence. B produced a song in attachment to one of his videos that pushed him to be signed with an indie label, Selektion Records, but his focus remains on celebrity news. The first video to get national attention was called “B. Scott On Shemar Moore Being Naked”. Other video topics that have gained notoriety have ranged from deeply personal confessions to reactions towards celebrity news. B. Scott is one of the most subscribed comedians on all of YouTube.com.

In addition to the YouTube success, B was also voted 'Hottest Blogger' by My Black Hollywood Magazine in 2007. B’s YouTube success led to fellow blogger and friend, Perez Hilton, labeling him as his “Favorite New YouTuber” and ultimately being selected by YouTube to become one of the company’s partners. In addition to Perezhilton.com, B’s YouTube videos have been featured on top celebrity news sources such as Mediatakeout.com and Concreteloop.com. While lovebscott.com has evolved profoundly since its initial inception, it continues to embrace the philosophy of approaching pop culture news in a way that is witty and honest but never cruel. Lovebscott.com primarily focuses on five pillars of pop culture including Fashion, Music, Celebrity News, Nightlife, and Miscellaneous Entertainment.

Branching Out of the Box

Since March 2007, B. Scott has been hired as a celebrity talent; contributing to several publications and hosting events. On May 16th at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, B was a part of the 2007 BET Awards nominations and honorees announcements. In June 2007, he also provided coverage of the 2007 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Awards 20th Anniversary Celebration. On June 7th, 2007, he hosted the "White Party" at the Hollywood Black Film Festival in Los Angeles which he will be hosting again during the summer of 2008. B was featured in the 2008 February issue of the Black GLBT publication, Clik Magazine and will host four events in Washington, DC over Memorial Day weekend during the city's 2008 Gay Black Pride celebrations.
