I. Updating tools for Cases

A. Lexis

• Check a Citation

- choose Autocite, to update particular case

- choose Shepards to shepardize case, i.e. determine where your case has been cited - can limit by either history, treatment or specific headnote, jurisdiction, etc . . . using link markers

- choose LEXCITE to find both reported and unreported cases as well as secondary sources and state codes.

B. Westlaw

• KeyCite - provides citing cases with history, analysis of treatment and depth of coverage - can limit by either history, treatment or specific headnote, jurisdiction, etc . . .

• Table of Authorities - lists the cases cited in your case and their Key Cite analysis
• Shepards will not be available on Westlaw as of July 1, 1999
