Latino Alumni Bios


Joseph H. Cubas graduated in 2002 as a member of Calhoun College and with a degree in American Studies. He continued his education at the University of London where he earned a Masters of Arts in Latin American Cultural Politics. He is now living in his hometown of New York City. While at Yale he was a member of Despierta Boricua, a Cultural Center Coordinator, a Cultural Connections organizer and aid, and an Ethnic Counselor.

Marco Davis graduated as a member of the class of 1992 and Jonathan Edwards College. He double majored in History and Latin American Studies. Originally from Mount Vernon, New York, he now lives in Washington DC where he works as the Director of Leadership Development for the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). As an undergraduate at Yale, he was involved with MEChA, Despierta Boricua, and the East Coast Chicano Student Forum (ECCSF).

Billie Gastic, a member of Davenport College, graduated in 1998 with a degree in Economics. She went on to earn a Masters degree in Education from Harvard University in 2001 and a Masters degree in Sociology from Stanford University in 2003. She is a Doctoral Candidate at Stanford University but is currently living in her home town of New York City. She was involved with Despierta Boricua, La Casa Cultural Julia de Burgos, Latino Heritage Month, and served as an Ethnic Counselor during her undergraduate career at Yale.

Evelyn Rojas graduated in 1994 and was a member of Saybrook College. She double majored in Women’s Studies and the Teacher Preparation Program. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Social Work in 2002 from Columbia University. Originally from Medford, New York, she now resides in New York City working as the Partnership Program Coordinator for the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Information Center. As an undergraduate at Yale, she was a member of Despierta Boricua and Alpha Rho Lambda Sorority, Inc./Alianza de Raíces Latinas.

Nancy Rosas graduated with the class of 2001, with a degree in Latin American Studies, and was a member of Branford College. Originally from Reedley, California, she now resides in New York City, working as an Administrative Analyst for Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation (MDRC). While an undergraduate at Yale, she was involved with MEChA, Sigma Lamba Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc., the Latino Unification Committee, Latino Youth Enrichment Team (LYET), and worked as an Ethnic Counselor.
