Vijay Prashad, the author of many books in ethnic and postcolonial studies, and
professor of International Studies and Kellner Chair of South Asian History at
Trinity College, spoke on his latest book The Darker Nations: A People’s History of
the Third World in October 2007.
2006-2007: Achille Mbembe
Achille Mbembe, the author of On the Postcolony and Research Professor of
History and Politics at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, spoke
on “The Political Life of Sovereignty” in April 2007.
2005-2006: Michael Hardt
Michael Hardt, the co-author, with Antonio Negri, of the widely-acclaimed
works of political theory, Empire and Multitude, and professor of literature at
Duke University, spoke on the trajectory “From Empire to Multitude” in October
2005.
2004-5: Perry Anderson
Perry Anderson, the author of many works of history and social theory including
The Origins of Postmodernity, as well as a long-time editor of New Left Review and
professor of history at the University of California, Los Angeles, spoke on "After
Hegemony?" in April 2005.
