Yale's Fourth Annual Koushinkan Kendo Tournament

Yale's venue this year is slightly different from previous years; the tournament will be held in the John Lee Ampitheater, which can be found by turning right directly after entering the gym's lobby. Signs will be posted in the gym on the day of the tournament.

There is free parking located directly next to the gym, with entrances located on both Ashmun Street and Lake Place (see the Google map).

Tournament Details

Kato-sensei of Shidogakuin has agreed to serve as head judge, and we will be following IKF rules for competition.

Saturday, March 31 will be a five-man team tournament open to both undergraduate and graduate students (though no one may be ranked above sandan). It will be held on two courts, resulting in two round-robin brackets with 3 minute matches. The top two teams from each bracket will advance to the semifinals. Sunday's individuals tournament will be held on a single court with about 56 participants in a single elimination tournament (3 minute matches).

Participation in the tournament will cost $30 per person for both days, or $20 if only competing on one day.

We will NOT be providing lunch to participants, and food is not easily available from the gym, so please plan to bring your own lunch.

For those who requested housing, please plan on bringing your own sleeping bags.
