Yale Responds to Hurricane Katrina
Look for information on actions that have and/or will be taken by Yale faculty, students and staff to help the relief efforts.
What else can I do?
Volunteer
At this time, if you are thinking of volunteering in the hurricane stricken areas, you must be able to make a commitment for a full two weeks to be spent in difficult and unpredictable circumstances. Experienced relief organizations, like the Red Cross, require volunteers to undergo training before deployment. You will also need the approval of your immediate supervisor to ensure work coverage.
Speak to your human resource representative about how to use your personal and vacation time for a leave of absence.
- Register for deployment training sponsored by the South Central American Red Cross Chapter.
- Volunteer locally and support the New Haven Katrina Relief efforts. The City of New Haven is developing a list of individuals who are interested in volunteering their time, expertise, opening their home or providing housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina. If you would like to volunteer, please call (203) 946-7669 or email including name, address, phone and a brief explanation on how you can help out.
- Join the State of Connecticut relief effort.
