How can I contribute?

Donate Generously

Yale will match your donation to relief funds up to $1,000 from now until December 9, 2005.

Yale will match the charitable donations, up to $1,000, already made by faculty, students, and staff. To participate, download and complete the paper-based contribution form.

  • Indicate the agency that you have donated to in the last section of the form
  • Mail the completed form with proof of contribution to Yale University Human Resources, Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, P.O. Box 208256, New Haven, CT 06520-8256

Donate Online

  • A secure online application is available for Yale faculty and staff to contribute online through a payroll deduction. More info...
  • A secure online application is available for students to charge their donation directly to their student account (up to $100). More info...

    For faculty and staff: Yale University will send a confirmation of your pledge (via email or regular mail), which may be used in conjunction with your final 2005 pay stub, to substantiate your contribution.

Yale will match the charitable donations, up to $1,000, that have already been made by faculty, students, and staff. The fund will match contributions made by Yale students, faculty, and staff directly to any relief agency. Donations can be made online or by completing a paper form which can be downloaded from this web site. Yale will also match donations that have already been made by students, faculty and staff who have completed the downloaded paper form.

To participate, download and complete the paper-based contribution form. Indicate the agency that you have donated to in the last section of the form. Mail the completed form with proof of contribution to Yale University Human Resources, Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, P.O. Box 208256, New Haven, CT 06520-8256.

Donations by Faculty and Staff - Online Payroll Deductions

  • Faculty and staff can make contributions directly through a secure online application with a special payroll deduction option. Contributions up to $1,000 per individual will be matched
  • Complete a paper based form
  • Pledge confirmations for faculty and staff: Yale University will send a confirmation of your pledge (via email or regular mail), which may be used in conjunction with your final 2005 pay stub, to substantiate your contribution

Donations by Students - Online Charges to Student Accounts

Paper Based Contributions for Payroll and Student Accounts

  • Faculty and staff can select a payroll deduction option and students can charge to their student account (up to $100) through a paper-based contribution form
  • Download and complete paper-based contribution form and indicate how you wish to contribute. Print and mail the form to Yale University Human Resources, Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, P.O. Box 208256, New Haven, CT 06520-8256

Already Contributed to a Cause?

  • Yale will match donations, up to $1,000, that have already been made faculty, students, and staff. To participate, download and complete paper-based contribution form. There are many experienced relief organizations who are accepting contributions. A list of some of the charitable organizations is provided below for your convenience.

Check with the following organizations for tips on how to donate wisely:

Give Blood

Consult the Red Cross Blood Drives schedule. The next drive to be held at Yale will be Friday, September 9, 2005 , Payne Whitney Gym, Lanman Center, 12:45p.m.-5:45p.m.

Please call 432-1444 in advance for donor appointments; Red Cross representatives will also accept financial contributions for the relief efforts at this drive.

Donate Goods at Collection Centers

State Armories are acting as collection centers for the following items: bottled water, easily opened, non-perishable food and snacks, batteries and blankets. More info...

Charitable Organizations

The following list is a sample listing of relief organizations that are accepting donations for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Use your own discretion when choosing an agency to make a contribution.  Yale will match your donation (up to $100), however, the matched contributions will go to these four agencies: *American Red Cross, Catholic Charities USA, United Jewish Communities/Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund, United Methodist Committee Relief.
