The organizers at JKA Boston wish to emphasize that the event will be held on Saturday, October 10 at the Keohane Sports Center on the Wellesley College campus in Wellesley, MA, and that the registration deadline is Wednesday October 7.

Jackets!!! Boathouse Facet - place your order

The majority preferred the Facet jacket from Boathouse. We should get our order in right away so that we get them before fall is over. If you are going to buy a jacket, let me know what size you need and set aside about $60 for the jacket - ($69 if you want 3XL or larger) Sizing: I'll bring sizing chart and tape measure to training tonight. Or just use the attached sizing chart and email me your size request. I'll try to have more details by the end of this week about logo stuff.

Hope you're all enjoying the last weeks of summer!

Karate classes for the fall semester will begin September 14th, Mon/Wed 6:45-8:00pm in room 5H on the fifth floor.

On another note, fall training camp will be held September 12-13 in Albany. We will be celebrating Mori Sensei's 77th birthday, which is an important birthday in the Japanese culture. More information is available here. Contact Craig sensei if you're interested in attending.

Summer classes begin Monday, June 1. The schedule is Mon/Wed 5:30-6:30 in room 5E-F on the 5th floor of the Payne Whitney Gym.

Congratulations to our President Alejandro, who is graduating this year. He will be sorely missed.

In our latest news, thanks to those participating in last weeks tournament. I think you'll agree that, if nothing else, it was a great experience. Congratulations to Dawn and Chris who both placed third in sparring, battling very tough competition. This week will be the last week of formal training until the summer semester. I'll post details on that as soon as plans are finalized.

The final class, Wednesday May 6, will be held at 5:30pm instead of the usual 6:45pm.

Second Annual Harvard Shotokan Karate Gasshuku at Harvard University's Malkin Athletic Center on February 13th - 15th 2009.

The Harvard Shotokan Karate Club will be hosting a weekend seminar to be led by Sensei Don Sharp of JKA Canada (5th dan, winner of the 1996 ShotoCup Men's Kumite). This was a very popular and successful event last year and we would like to expand the participant list. As you know, this was a very high energy event that was extremely popular and, due to your positive reviews, we are sure to have many willing participants.

The weekend will include 5 classes: one Friday evening, three on Saturday, and one on Sunday morning. We expect the classes to be small and intensive, with at least two dedicated exclusively to advanced kata and advanced kumite. The total cost for all five classes will be $80, regardless of rank, in order to cover Sensei Sharp's expenses. (i.e. we are just aiming to break even!)

Once again, given the limitations of the space and the restrictions of the "Hahvahd" bureaucracy, we have to stick to an upper limit of 50 people and ask that you not advertise at this time. We will be sending out a general invitation for all upper belts come Sunday January 18th at which point we will welcome all endorsements, but will be restricted to the first contact first serve basis.
