The Japanese American Students Union (JASU) was reestablished in the fall of 2005 by students excited to renew interested in the Japanese American community. When first arriving on Yale campus, most of us realized that there was no Japanese American (Nikkei) group for our community, unlike the well-established and long-lasting groups such as the Chinese American Student Association, the Korean American Students of Yale, and the Taiwanese American Society. Since its creation, JASU has flourished and many of its members hold board and chair positions in the Asian American Students Alliance, while others are part of JASU's own board.

JASU is a social, cultural, and political organization. Socially, JASU holds a cultural dinner each semester and various study breaks including movies and fun getting-to-know-each-other events. Politically, JASU holds a reknown Day of Remembrance to remember those who were persecuted by the WWII Japanese concentration camps in America.
