Clusters in residential colleges or academic departments are designed for use by members of that specific college or department. Other clusters, located in libraries and academic buildings, are meant for more general use.

Students may request that information about them be left out of the online directory and other printed directories by contacting their registrar.
Network
- Central Campus:
Data networking in the Residential Colleges, Old Campus and Graduate Student Housing is maintained by ITS Student Computing. - Medical Campus: Please see our information for medical campus students regarding NetIDS and connecting to the Yale network.
- Accessing Yale resources from home and while traveling.
- VPN (Virtual Private Networking)
Wireless
All Yale Students, Faculty, and Staff may use the Yale wireless network.
- Central Campus: Student techs will provide the first line of support. They will attempt to resolve laptop problems and will report network failures or performance issues to ITS Data Network Operations (DNO). DNO will resolve such problems as soon as possible with the caveats that any simultaneous problems with the wired network will take precedence and we may need or want to perform extended testing before returning the network to service.

Downloads
Yale offers some software to its community for free. This software is specially licensed and configured, so it must not be distributed outside the Yale community. As the result, a Yale NetID and password are required to download from the IT software site.
Students and faculty looking for certain Microsoft products should check the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance site to see if the title they seek is covered by the program and thus available at no charge.
