How to Update MacOS X

Note: We strongly recommend that you set MacOS X to automatically update, instructions are located at: http://www.yale.edu/its/stc/faq/MacSecurity/AutoOSXUpdate.html- Go to the Apple menu and select Software Update... .
- MacOS X will check for updates:
- After scanning for updates, a list of updates will appear. Select all of the updates and click Install.
- Once your computer has restarted, repeat steps 1-3 until no more updates appear. Some updates cannot be installed at the same time as other updates, and some updates can only be installed after previous updates have been applied. You should see the following when your computer is fully updated:
- You should set MacOS X to update itself automatically in the future to ensure you are kept up-to-date on security patches and software updates. Instructions are located at: http://www.yale.edu/its/stc/faq/FAQAutoOSXUpdate.html
Some updates require a restart. Please restart your computer if you are prompted.
