Using the E-mail Account Tool to mass delete unwanted messages in Webmail folders

If you need further assistance, please request help from a Student Tech.

This guide explains how to use the E-mail Account Tool to mass delete unwanted messages in Webmail folders. You should only delete folders using this guide if you have either already downloaded these folders to your personal computer or if you know you do not want any of the e-mails in these folders. Click here to learn why you want to keep your e-mails on your local computer and not Yale's servers.

  1. Open up a web browser and go tohttps://config.mail.yale.edu. If prompted click the Continue button and log in to the website using your NetID and password. This will take you to the main menu page:

Click the Details link next to Server Disk Usage

  2. On the page that comes up locate the folder which contains messages you wish to delete in the list of folders. You cannot (nor should you try to) delete your Inbox using this method. Click the Details link next to the folder you wish to delete:
  3. The message deletion page will now appear:

  4. To delete all messages received before a certain date, set that date and click the Delete All Messages Received Before button. Then click the Yes, Delete Messages button to confirm. Finally, click the Return to Folder List button to return to the list of e-mail folders.
  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have deleted all of the messages you want to delete.
