Obtaining Microsoft products
There are several programs under which members of the Yale community can license and use Microsoft products. The following brief descriptions and links should assist you in choosing the program that best suits your needs.
Program: Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance
Audience: Students and faculty
Overview: Donated to the University by Microsoft Corporation this subscription provides operating system software and a variety of developer tools for use by students and faculty at no charge. Interested students and faculty members can obtain details by visiting the Yale MSDNAA site at http://www.yale.edu/msdnaa/.
Program: Microsoft Select Agreement
Audience: Faculty and staff (institutional purchases)
Overview: Agreement between Yale and Microsoft for the purchase of licenses at discounted prices. The full range of Microsoft products are available under this agreement. Program: Microsoft Campus Agreement
Audience: Faculty, staff, and students by subscription
Overview: Contractual agreement between the University and Microsoft allowing subscribing departments to use Office, Windows upgrades, and Client Access Licenses for the duration of the agreement. This agreement is limited to those who have subscribed and paid for their subscription. A list of participating departments is posted at http://www.yale.edu/software/library/SW@YaleMSCAList.htm. Program: Academic Pricing
Audience: Students, faculty, and staff (personal purchase)
Overview: Academically priced packages including license, media, and documentation offered at special pricing to academic users. May be purchased via the University eportal at www.yale.edu/eportal or from any software vendor offering academic packages.
