Tracking vulnerabilities
Overview
The Information Security Office continually receives reports of intrusions and intrusion attempts. In an effort to secure systems before they are compromised, we regularly scan the Yale network for vulnerabilities. The most common and severe problems that are affecting the Internet are monitored at the following links:
- OSVDB - Operating System Vulnerability database
- Symantec Security Response - latest virus threats, security advisories, removal tools
- Secunia - well-organized, searchable site of OS and application vulnerabilities
- Trend Micro Virus Map - current virus attacks throughout the globe
- Internet Storm Watch - top 10 ports being probed
- NAI Security Headquarters - virus info, vulnerabilities, tools, resources
- CIAC HoaxBusters - how to recognize hoaxes, what to do about them, and some of the history of hoaxes on the Internet
You can protect your system from these and many other vulnerabilities by following our Secure Networking Standards.
