Outlook 2003 Junk Mail Filtering
IMPORTANT: This documentation is for training Outlook 2003 to filter junk mail. Documentation for a different email client can be found at Configure my email software.
Configure and train your junk mail filter in Outlook
Junk Mail
Outlook's Junk Mail Filter settings are located on the Toolbar under Actions, then Junk Email, and then Junk Email Options. The default settings are low. In this window you can change the level of junk Email protection and customize your safe senders, safe recipients, and blocked senders. You can train Outlook's Junk Email Filter by individually selecting certain Email as you receive them in your inbox. To select an email, right-click on the email, go to Junk Email, and then choose one of the options given. An example is shown below.

Train your Junk Mail Filter in Outlook
Once you have enabled your junk filtering in Outlook, you must check the junk folder frequently throughout the day to check for legitimate messages. If you find something that was marked as junk, and it should not be, right click on the message and select Mark as Not Junk . This adds the sender to your local directory and prevents future messages from then going to junk.
Similarly, if you find something in your Inbox that should be marked as Junk, right click on the message and select Add Sender to Blocked Senders List . Future messages from this sender will go to the Junk folder.
