Windows Configuration
Installation
Download Yale's version of Eudora to insure that you obtain a properly configured, site-licensed copy. This software can be downloaded from the ITS Software Library.
Configure your settings
Once you have installed Eudora, go to the Start menu and open the program. A Welcome to Eudora window will appear, click Next. After clicking Next, the Account Settings window will appear. Select "Skip directly to advanced account setup" and click Finish.

Configure Generic Properties
The next window allows for you configure the Generic Properties and Incoming Mail for your Central IMAP email account. Follow the screenshot below to fill in your Generic Properties. Make sure your settings are identical to the screenshot below.

| Real name: | your name, as you would like it to appear on outgoing messages |
| Return address: | your email address, probably firstname.lastname@yale.edu If you do not know your email address, look yourself up in the Yale Directory. |
| Mail Server (Incoming): | NetID.mail.yale.edu |
| Login Name: | NetID |
| SMTP Server (Outgoing): | only on the Yale network: mail.yale.edu outside the Yale network: ask your Internet Service Provider |
Configure Incoming Mail
Once you have entered your information for the Generic Properties, click on the Incoming Mail tab. Follow the screenshot below to fill in the following Incoming Mail settings. Make sure your settings are identical to the screenshot below. Once you are done click "OK".
Note: Any action taken using Eudora configured to the IMAP protocol will reflect on the Yale University Central Webmail page. For example, if you delete a message in Eudora it will also delete on the Yale University Central Webmail server.

Check Mail
To check your mail, click on the icon with an envelope and a tray. A screenshot of the button is shown below. It will then ask you to enter your password. Enter your password and click "OK".
Configure Check for Mail Settings
We recommend for you to have Eudora set to check for mail every 10 minutes. This allows the mail server to run more efficiently by not receiving continuous requests for mail. In Eudora, go to Tools, then Options, and select the Checking Mail icon on the left. On the right where it says "Check for mail every", you should enter 15. The settings are shown on the screenshot below.

Sending Mail
Go to Tools, then Options and choose the Sending Mail icon on the left. Make sure you configuration matches that of the screenshot below.

Configure LDAP for Eudora
To configure LDAP for Eudora, select Tools, then Directory Services and select the LDAP Protocol and create a new database. The configurations are listed below and visible on the screenshot.
Hostname: directory.yale.edu
Port: 389
Search Path: o=yale.edu
Maximum # of returns: no limit
Attributes: None
Note: If you are off-campus, you will need to connect to Yale's network with the Cisco Virtual Private Network Client Software in order to connect to LDAP. Cisco's VPN Client Software can be downloaded from the Yale Software Library.
