New wireless networks on campus

Data management includes a backup strategy

The most important part of any computer is the data that resides on it. The documents, images, spreadsheets, databases, and other material are often the result of years of effort that would be nearly impossible to reconstruct if lost. Disk storage has grown incredibly over the last two years on personal computers and individuals can now squirrel away terabytes of data without worrying much about managing the number of files on their machines. Apple's Snow Leopard: Doesn't yet work with some key applications

On August 28, Apple released its new operating system, Snow Leopard. At this time ITS does not recommend upgrading to Snow Leopard if you use any of the following key Yale applications. When these incompatibilities are addressed, we expect to fully support Snow Leopard.  Read more. »

 



Microsoft Windows 7: Be prepared

In October 2009, Microsoft is expected to release Windows 7, its next generation operating system. ITS is committed to fully supporting this updates in a timely manner. Planning is underway to analyze, document and provide support on a personal use level in the coming months.   Read more. »

 



Upgrading Office: Microsoft Office 2007 & 2008

ITS is pleased to announce plans for the staged deployment of Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows and Office 2008 for Mac during the 2010 fiscal year. This means that we will approach departments, one at a time and upgrade everyone in the department at once. We expect this process to last throughout the fiscal year. Read more. »
