Your computer and changes to the Daylight Saving Time dates

How does this affect you? Because your computer’s operating system software was programmed to automatically adjust the clock for Daylight Saving Time and those definitions are now changed, you may need to take action if your operating system is not patched. Those running Vista or Mac OS 10.4.5 or later, no patch is required. Some XP and Unix systems require a patch. Read more …

Promising new anti-spam measure

As part of our continuing effort to reduce spam at Yale, ITS is using a new anti-spam blocklist.  The Policy Blocklist (PBL) from Spamhaus has been in place since January 24, 2007 and early statistics show a 20% increase in rejected connections from spam senders.  This translates to roughly 20% less spam and malware in your inbox. Windows Vista is released

On January 30, Microsoft released Windows Vista, the long-awaited upgrade to its Windows operating system.  While there is considerable publicity being given to this event, most users of business applications at the University will not need to upgrade.  Microsoft has promised to continue to support Windows XP until April 2009.  Read more. . .
