Office of Development Systems
The Office of Development Systems plans, acquires, implements, maintains, and supports the technical resources for the Office of Development. Such resources include desktop computer systems and server-based application systems (including Benefactor). The Office continually evaluates new ideas and suggest ways that creative technology solutions can be used to enhance fund-raising and alumni relations.
About Our Technology
The core adminstrative system application used is Benefactor. Benefactor is a strategic planning and management tool designed specifically for fund-raising and alumni affairs professionals, Benefactor not only keeps complete and accurate records of alumni information and fund-raising activities, it also collects, calculates, and manipulates data to provide forecasts, progress reports, and prospect identification.
At the present time, Benefactor is written with a relational database management system (RDBMS) called Unidata, owned by IBM. The AD Tech Team has developed a Oracle Reporting Database (Data Mart) to allow the accurate and timely production of queries and reports from Benefactor data, in a modern SQL environment. This reporting system is called "BERT," short for Benefactor Reporting. The reports and the interactive user interface are delivered via the World Wide Web, utilizing the Enterprise Reporting Solution from Brio Technology (Brio.Portal and Brio.Report).Contact information
