David Lummus

David Lummus received his Ph.D. in Italian from Stanford University with a dissertation on Giovanni Boccaccio's Genealogy of the Gentile Gods. His research focuses on the reception of classical antiquity in Boccaccio's early vernacular works and later Latin works. His research and teaching interests include the Italian lyric tradition, the novella, early Italian Humanism, allegory, reception theory, and literary translation. In addition to his research in medieval Italian literature, he has translated various contemporary Italian poets, including Andrea Zanzotto, Patrizia Valduga, Giovanni Raboni, and Valerio Magrelli.
