• ISS has just posted our Chauncey post-doc announcement for 2010-2011, please see the Fellowships page for more information.

• Grand Strategy has a new logo, designed by Prof. Charles Hill:

GSlogo - On the left is a Doric column capital representing Sparta, a land power, governed by an aristocracy, traditional, prudent, militaristic, informed Aristotles male principle.

- On the right is an Ionic capital representing Athens, a sea power, governed democratically, progressive, activist, humanistic, informed by the female principle.

- The design is taken from the frontispiece to Hobbess 1634 translation of Thucydidess Peloponnesian War, a manual for statecraft, and a possession for all time.

- Aristotles Politics points to a combination of these two politics and principles, continually adjusted for balance in response to specific cases, as the best possible strategy.

An article on Studies in Grand Strategy appeared in the Wall Street Journal on December 20, 2008: "Where Policy Makers Are Born"

The Yale Daily News published an article about The Public Conversation with John Negroponte '60 held Monday September 21, at the Greenberg Center.  It can be read here.
