Dr Alan Powers studied History of Art at Cambridge, and his Ph.D, Architectural Education in Britain 1880-1914 was completed in 1982 under Sir John Summerson. He has subsequently taught at the University of Greenwich School of Architecture, becoming Professor of Architecture and Cultural History, 2007-12. His publications include Britain in the series Modern Architectures in History (Reaktion Books). He is currently developing a book on non-modernism in mid twentieth century Britain, begun with funding from the British Academy. His new book on the artist and designer Eric Ravilious will be published by Lund Humphries in 2013.
