Robert J. Batastini—musician, author, composer, clinician—is music director emeritus of St. Joseph Parish, Downers Grove, Illinois. He continually served in Chicago area parishes from 1955 through his retirement in 2002. Batastini is the vice president and senior editor of GIA Publications, Inc., of Chicago.

He is a past president of the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, musician for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and served on the National Association of Pastoral Musicians Council. That association named him Pastoral Musician of the Year for 2000.
