CONNECTICUT
Fanfare Consort, Monroe CT (posted October 9, 2009)
Fanfare Consort, Connecticut’s Premier Early Music Ensemble, seeks a continuo player. Fanfare Consort is dedicated to the research, publication, performance and recording of literature composed prior to the 19th century. The ensemble preserves this rich and unheard repertiore by performing modern-day premieres of manuscripts by composers who have been eclipsed by the great masters of music. All concerts are presented on historically accurate instruments: clarino (valveless baroque trumpet), baroque strings (gut strings), baroque woodwinds (keyless and wooden), basso continuo (chitarrone [fretted bass lute] and/or violone [fretted, gut strings], harpsichord [plucked strings], and/or positiv organ [portable baroque tracker pipe organ], etc.) and voice (natural), in order to heighten public awareness of an earlier style of performance. These concerts are presented as a lecture/demonstration performance that is both educational and entertaining. Concerts include explanations of the music and a comparison of the historical instruments and their modern counterparts. See http://www.fanfareconsort.com/. Email resume to FanfareConsort@FanfareConsort.com or for more information, call 203.258.9103
