Conductor Sebastián Zubieta


The Yale International Singers have a fantastic and fun conductor in Sebastián Zubieta. His innate energy, enthusiasm and sense of humor are highly infectious.

Sebastián was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1967. He holds a degree in musicology from the Universidad Católica Argentina in Buenos Aires, and a Master of Musical Arts in Composition from the Yale School of Music. He taught at the undergraduate level in the Universidad Nacional de la Plata, Argentina, and at Yale. He is currently director of Music Technology at the Ross School in East Hampton, New York, and continues to teach at Yale. Sebastián's pieces have been performed in Argentina, Germany (Aktive Musik Latein Amerika Ruhrgebiet 1993), Korea (World Music Days 1997), Poland, and the USA. He has conducted several choral groups, and has served as conductor of the YIS since 1999.
