Collection of Musical Instruments
One of the foremost institutions of its kind, the Collection acquires, preserves, and exhibits musical instruments from antiquity to the present. Established in 1900, it has since grown to include approximately 1,000 instruments (string, wind, and percussion) as well as musical accessories. Current acquisition focuses on steadily augmenting a set of non-European instruments with further examples from Asia, Africa, and South America.
