COMMENTS

Pulmonary consolidation and infiltrates. Findings of pulmonary consolidation are characterized by increased density potentially in a lobar distribution, although in more severe infections the consolidations may include multiple lobes. Other causes of consolidation include bronchial obstruction with gradual filling of the air spaces by fluid, but often the latter acutely results in loss of volume.
