Pneumonia, lingular

Lateral radiograph
Follow-up radiograph

This X-ray is a typical example of a lingular pneumonia. The PA film shows the opacified pulmonary infiltrate in the lower lung field. Note that the heart border near the infiltrate is lost indicating that it is occurring in a segment of lung which is immediately adjacent, which therefore implies the lingula. The lateral film confirms the anterior location, thus confirming the lingular involvement.
