Normal anatomy of the myocardium - Left lateral view


Specimen sliced in a view comparable to left lateral as might be displayed by echocardiology, MRI or SPECT nuclear imaging.

Fixed heart specimens often appear as if arrested in systole rather than diastole so the apparent myocardial thickness may misleadingly suggest hypertrophy.
