IEFP HOMEPAGE

In today’s world, international experience and sophistication are increasingly important. As you consider study abroad, think carefully about your personal and academic goals. What do you hope to accomplish by the time you graduate? What skills and experiences would you like to acquire? Perhaps a term, year, or summer abroad is a fitting complement to your plans. If you choose to study abroad, you will be happy you did.

Click on the links for a list of students who have volunteered to talk to their fellow students about their study abroad experiences. These students can talk to you about all aspects of studying abroad -- including what it was like to be away from Yale for a term or year, how they chose their program, what the experience was like, and any other questions who have.

Don't delay - apply for your passport today!

The U.S. Passport Services Office is experiencing serious delays in processing the large number of applications they have received since the U.S. instituted new passport regulations earlier this year. Processing time for passports is currently 8-12 weeks or longer; for expedited service, it can take up to 2 months. If you do not yet have a passport, or need to renew your passport, and are planning on studying abroad in the fall or spring of 2007-08, I urge you to submit your application immediately , and pay the extra fee for expedited service (especially if studying abroad in the fall). For information on applying for a passport and estimated processing times, visit http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html.

Information for students traveling to Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Mexico, and South America

If you are traveling to any of the above mentioned regions this spring semester (or even next summer), schedule an appointment with the YUHS Travel Clinic (or your home physician) to find out if you will require any vaccinations prior to your time abroad. You can schedule an appointment at the Yale Travel Clinic by calling 2-0093. You can also check the immunization chart on the Travel Clinic Web site.
