Spend a semester at Peking University.

Earn Yale credits.

Open to all majors.

No prior Chinese required.

Learn more about this unique program designed for Yale students in partnership with China's flagship university. It began as a shared vision of Presidents Xu and Levin, who both believe in the value of joint educational opportunities in our globalizing world. This is not your typical study abroad program; rather, it is a distinctive international program for Yale students and Peking University (PKU) students to study and live together.

Yale and Peking University faculty teach a varied liberal arts curriculum entirely in English (except for required Chinese language courses) to Yale students and PKU students, most of whom participate in the Yuanpei Program.

With China gaining power and influence on today's political and economic scene, first-hand knowledge of China's language and culture will be a valuable asset for Yale students, and exposure to a liberal arts curriculum will be equally valuable for PKU students.

Program Highlights

The Program takes place on the PKU campus in Beijing, China's flagship university and site of a rich and long academic history. Yale and PKU participants live together in a new residence hall. No other U.S. students live with Chinese undergraduates at PKU in a regular PKU residence hall.
