In this photo journey set to music, Adam Scharfman shares an artistic summary of his extraordinary experiences in China. From workers preparing for the Olympics to breathtaking landscapes, this video makes a compelling argument for firsthand encounters with the world beyond New Haven.
Ever wondered how good your Chinese could be after one year of Yale and one summer abroad? Listen to Adam deliver the Princeton in Beijing graduation speech!
Note: The video is a bit shaky, but it's the audio you should be after anyway.
Faiza (ES '05), Davina (JE '05), and Jenny (BK '06) lay the smack down at the HIF talent show. I've seen the entire video that included all the students in the talent show, and most of those were strong on "show" but weak on "talent" -- not so with this clip!
In this scene, little Minju refuses to go to her father, who tries everything, even his cell phone, to get her attention. Susan Kim can be heard to say repeatedly: "Go to your Dad!" Meanwhile, Minju merely hovers around Susan asking "What are you doing? What are you doing?"
Ever wonder what it's like to have dinner at a Korean home? Well, here's a good look (notice everybody sharing the bowl in the center of the table). The only good audio comes as the mother is taking rice out of the cooker. She looks up, sees Susan, and sweetly says: "Quit taking videos (it's time to eat)"!
Here Susan Kim's cousin shows some true dancing talent. Susan shot this video to capture the extent to which pop culture influencess all levels of Korean society. See for yourself if these dance moves are on target...
