If you are interested in applying for the program, please visit the Yale University Office of Graduate Admissions website. All questions specific to the admissions process should be directed to the Office of Graduate Admissions. Applications should be initiated as early as possible (late summer/fall) in the academic year preceding the one in which the individual proposes to register. Application is made via the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences’ Online Application available on or after August 15 through the Graduate School web site. The deadline for submitting your application is January 2 for consideration for admission to the fall term. Supplemental materials, such as transcripts and letters of recommendation not submitted online must be clearly marked with your program of study and sent to the Graduate School of Arts and Science, not to the IDE Program. Late applications will be considered only at the discretion of the Program Director. You are urged to read the application policies and procedures, which can be found at the same web site.
Applicants interested in the joint IDE/F&ES Program must individually apply to both the Graduate School using the online application, and the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies whose application can be obtained online at the F&ES web site. Applicants will be notified of action concerning admission by mid-April. Those who are undergraduates at the time of admission must present evidence of the satisfactory completion of the bachelor's degree or its equivalent in order to register. Those who are engaged in graduate work must, before registration, present a transcript giving evidence of satisfactory completion of the year's work in which they were engaged. A non-refundable fee is due at the time of application. The online application accepts two forms of payment, Credit Card (MasterCard or Visa) or Money Order/Personal Check. Checks or Money Orders must be drawn on a U.S. bank or on a bank with a banking relationship with a U.S. bank. The Graduate Record Examination is required of all applicants. The Educational Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey, administers the GRE in the United States as well as abroad. As the ETS will report scores only by mail and only at the written request of the students, applicants should arrange to take the GRE no later than the October testing. The results of later testing are usually not available before decisions on admissions must be made. Please check their web site for the latest information. You must request (either at the time of the test administration or via an additional Score Report) that your scores be released to Yale University Institution Code 3987. No paper copies of GRE score reports will be accepted.
