History of Science &
Medicine | Holmes Workshops |
The 2007-2008 "Frederic L. Holmes Workshop Series" continues the successful series that began four years ago in honor of the former chairman of our program, Dr. Frederic L. Holmes, who passed away in March, 2003. Dr. Holmes (or "Larry" as we all knew him) was an avid supporter of departmental workshops. Throughout his tenure as chairman of the department, Dr. Holmes continually sought to provide opportunities for both faculty members and students to come together for the purpose of critical examination and improvement of one another's work and research. Likewise, the workshop series aims to encourage scholarly discussions of ongoing research among graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members working on projects related to the history of science and medicine at Yale. Through the Holmes Workshop Series, we hope to keep Dr. Holmes' spirit of scholarship and community alive.
