Grant and Contract Administration (GCA)

The Office of Grant and Contract Administration (GCA) provides assistance to faculty and staff in obtaining and managing sponsored awards that support scholarly activities while assuring proper stewardship of those funds. The office is charged with review and approval of proposals sent to and received from all sponsors.

Responsibilities of the Grant and Contract Administration (GCA)

  • Assure that agreements with external parties who fund research at the University, such as federal agencies, foundations and for-profit corporations, are consistent with University requirements related to the ethical conduct of research.
  • Negotiate agreements with external parties who fund research at the University that are consistent with University requirements related to the protection of research participants.
  • Guarantee that research grant and contract funds are not expended for human research prior to approval or determination of exemption by one of the Yale IRBs.
  • Ensure that clinical trial agreement terms do not conflict with the IRB approved protocols.
