Supported Platforms for STARS

STARS works best with Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5 or higher or Netscape (NS) 7.1 or higher. The optimal connection is with either a DSL line or a T1 connection. If you are using a dial-up modem, then 56K is recommended. Slower modems work, but you may not be as satisfied with the speed of the data transmission.

STARS is officially supported on the following platforms. A "platform" is a browser and operating system combination. We have also provided navigation and browsing recommendations below.

Navagation and Browsing Recommendations

Yale recommends not using the back button on your browser. Back takes you to a previously saved version of a page. If you try to update or take actions from a saved page, you may have the most current information.

  • Do not open a second browser while using STARS.

To navigate the STARS site, use the navigation toolbar with the application and shown in the picture below. For instance, if you wish to go to the Search Openings page, click the hyperlink for Search Openings as shown below.

To log out, click on the Home button. This will bring you to your welcome screen. Then, select Log Out from the welcome page options.

Saving Documents Written in Office Word 2007

Please save documents written in Office Word 2007 as Office 2003. At this time, only documents saved as Office 2003 can be uploaded to STARS. Simply select Save as Office 2003 doc when you’re working in Office 2007. Kenexa BrassRing is looking to support Office 2007 by November 2007.
