Referral Process

The details about the candidate referral and application processes as well as the payment of a referral bonus are provided below:

Candidate Referral Process

  1. The employee refers a candidate for a bonus-eligible position via the employee referral site.
  2. The candidate receives an email that includes the job referral, and the candidate decides if he or she will apply for the job.
  3. If the candidate decides not to apply, the referral process ends and no candidate data is stored in Yale University's Strategic Talent-management And Recruiting System (STARS).

Application Process

  1. The candidate applies for the job for which he or she has been referred.
  2. A staffing representative determines if the candidate is eligible for the referral. You can check the status of your referral online.

Referral Bonus Payment

  1. If the candidate is hired, the referral bonus will be paid out to the referring employee in the first paycheck processed after the candidate's start date. Referral bonuses will only be paid out in regular paychecks.
  2. If the candidate is not hired, the referral bonus will not be paid out to the referring employee.
