Who is eligible to participate in the Employee Referral Program?

Currently, participation in Yale's RSVP employee referral program is open to clerical & technical, service & maintenance and managerial & professional staff at Yale University.

NOTE: Contract/Temporary/Casual employees and students are excluded from making referrals. Recruiters, Candidate Development Specialists and HR Generalists are not eligible to receive a referral bonus, but are encouraged to make referrals. Hiring Managers are excluded from receiving a referral bonus if their own referral is hired into a position that they supervise or that falls within their reporting line.

Who reviews the resumes of candidates that I refer?

Staffing and Career Development will assess the resumes and make all decisions regarding suitability for consideration.

What happens when the candidate I referred is hired?

After your referral accepts Yale's offer of employment for an eligible position, completes the background check process, and is hired, you will be notified via email that your referral has accepted the offer and then you will receive the referral bonus.

When will I receive the RSVP referral bonus for my hired referral?

The RSVP referral bonus will be included in the first paycheck processed after your referral’s start date. Referral bonuses will be subject to all relevant taxes.

How do I refer a candidate to the RSVP employee referral program?

You can refer a candidate to the RSVP employee referral program by clicking here. Only referrals that are submitted through this site will be accepted and eligible for the $500 referral bonus.

Is there a limit to the number of referrals for a particular position?

No, but you should only refer candidates for whom you are willing to be a reference.

Do I have to submit my referral to a particular position?

No. You can either refer a candidate to a particular position, or for general consideration.

What happens if my referral is already in the STARS database?

Referrals that are already in Yale's STARS database are not eligible for a referral bonus.

How long is my RSVP referral in effect?

RSVP referrals are in effect for one (1) year.

Will anyone contact me regarding my referral?

By referring a candidate, you agree to be contacted by a recruiter, hiring manager and/or candidate development specialist regarding your referral.

Am I eligible for an RSVP referral bonus on a position that I did not make a refer to?

Your RSVP referral is in effect for one (1) year. You will receive a referral bonus if your referred candidate is hired into any RSVP eligible position to which they apply.

Will I be entitled to a referral bonus if my referred candidate is hired after I leave Yale University?

No. In order to receive the referral bonus, you must be employed at Yale at the time of your referral's start date.

What jobs are eligible for the RSVP referral bonus?

All jobs that are listed on the RSVP employee referral gateway are eligible for this program. For the initial launch, the referral program will focus on "hard to fill" positions in the ITS and Development departments.

What happens if my referred candidate is hired into a job that is not eligible, or does not appear on the RSVP employee referral gateway?

You will not receive a referral bonus.
