As a manager of staff at Yale, your success is measured not simply by your individual contribution, but by how well you manage others. Managing at Yale Essentials provides you, as a manager new to managing staff at Yale, the knowledge and resources you must have in order to enhance your effectiveness from the start and create a high-performing culture.
During this two-day workshop, you will learn about Yale's leadership expectations, key University policies and procedures for managing others, how to manage in Yale's union environment, how to locate and tap into important resources for managing others, and more. This important orientation to managing staff at Yale will help you lead your staff with confidence and drive performance for you and your team.
You will learn about the following in this workshop:
- Developing people and organizations
- Performance management
- Labor relations
- Leading a diverse workforce
- Employment law
- Business standards and ethics
- HR policies and procedures
At the end of the workshop, you will be introduced to a panel of experienced Yale senior managers who will share their experiences as leaders and answer your questions.
Open to managers of staff (with less than one year of managerial experience at Yale); all levels of managers participate (entry-, mid- and senior-levels).
