TR&S TRUCK ASSISTANT

  1. Assists in the DELIVERY and PICK UP of equipment and materials to and from designated destinations.
  2. LOADS and UNLOADS deliver vehicles.
  3. Checks vehicle fluid levels, vehicle safety devices, lights, wiper blades, blinkers, tire pressure, maintains daily vehicle logs and observes safe driving habits and practices.
  4. Delivers and Picks up U.S. Mail, interdepartmental (campus mail), parcel post and other distributions as required.
  5. Delivers all “accountable mail” and obtains signed receipt(s) as required.
  6. Maintains cleanliness of delivery trucks.
  7. Reports any malfunctions of material-handling equipment to supervisor immediately.
  8. Observes safe working habits and practices in the performance of pickups and delivery.
  9. Performs related duties as required or assigned within the job classification.
Experience: None required.
Education: Ability to read, write and follow written instructions.
Other: Must hold valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle License.

  1. Operates heavy vehicles.
  2. Delivers and picks up personnel, furniture, equipment and materials to designated destinations.
  3. Under the direction of the supervisor, assumes general responsibility for the completion of assignments in a manner that is professional and satisfactory to the customer.
  4. Maintains records and performs other record-keeping duties as mandated by the Department of Traffic, Receiving and Stores and the Department of Transportation.
  5. Assists in loading and unloading of trucks utilizing forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  6. Maintains cleanliness of trucks.
  7. Delivers and picks up trucks for periodic scheduled servicing.
  8. Reports all malfunctions or damage of trucks to supervisor immediately.
  9. Observes safe driving habits and practices.
  10. Must wear uniform and safety shoes at all times.
  11. Checks safety of vehicle including tire inflation, mirrors, wiper blades, lights, engine oil level and hydraulic fluid level and makes notations on daily inspection form provided.
  12. Directs and trains lower labor grade employees.
  13. Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification.
  14. Chauffer service on and off campus and out of town.
  15. Dismantling and assembling of office equipment.
  16. Packing and unpacking of books and office supplies.
Experience: Two or more years driving. Ability to operate a standard transmission.
Education: Ability to read, write and follow written instructions.
Other: Must possess a valid Connecticut CDL Driver's License.
